What to Wear to an Engagement Photoshoot

Congratulations on your engagement! As you plan for your engagement photoshoot in the bustling cities of Chicago or Milwaukee, or some of ours beautiful forest preserves, it’s important to select the right attire for this occasion. Here’s a detailed guide on what to wear for both you and your partner:

For Her:

  1. City Engagement:
    • Chic Dresses: Opt for flowy, knee-length or long dresses in soft pastel hues like blush pink, mint green, or light blue. These colors complement urban backgrounds beautifully. You can also check out the color of the year 2024 here. I’ve seen some super cute dresses made in this specific color and they look FABULOUS! But, if you go with timeless colors like red or yellow you will not make a mistake, as those are perfect for every engagement photoshoot!

  • Stylish Jumpsuits: If you prefer a modern twist, consider a stylish jumpsuit in a solid color or subtle print. Pair it with statement earrings or a dainty necklace.
  • Footwear: Choose comfortable yet stylish shoes like block heels, wedges, or trendy sneakers for exploring city streets and parks. You can always bring a couple of pairs of shoes, one heels and one sneakers just so you can change if you get tired of heels in case we’re walking a lot around the City.
  •

           2. Forest Preserve:

    • Bohemian Vibes: Embrace the natural surroundings with a bohemian-inspired maxi dress or a flowy skirt paired with a breezy top. Earthy tones like olive green or dusty rose work well.
    • Casual-Chic: Opt for a denim jacket or a lightweight cardigan to layer up. Add a touch of whimsy with a floral headband or woven accessories.
    • Footwear: Go for comfortable boots, flats, or sandals for easy navigation through forest trails.

    • Layer Up: Add a stylish blazer or a casual jacket for a polished look. Accessories like a classic watch or leather belt complete the ensemble.
    • Footwear: Opt for dress shoes, loafers, or clean sneakers for a city-friendly vibe.
  2. Forest Preserve:
    • Relaxed Sophistication: Go for a comfortable yet stylish look with well-fitted jeans or khakis paired with a casual shirt or sweater.
    • Outdoor Layers: Bring along a light jacket or a flannel shirt to layer up if the weather is cool. Consider accessorizing with a rugged belt or a stylish cap.
    • Footwear: Choose boots or sneakers that can handle uneven terrain.

Remember, the key is to coordinate your outfits while staying true to your personal style and the setting of your photoshoot. Whether you’re strolling through city streets or embracing nature’s beauty, these outfit ideas will help you look and feel your best for this special occasion.

Additionally, if you decide to change a couple of outfits during your shoot, it is always a great idea to bring a friend or a family member to assist you with carrying the bags. We usually change spots and walk a lot on our shoots so carrying everything by yourself alone can be exhausting. Also, don’t forget to bring a small bottle of water or something to drink especially if we’re shooting on hot summer days. And if you are bringing pets, bring some water and treats for them as well, as that could help if puppies are overactive and we need them to sit still. 🙂

Finally, if you have any questions or didn’t schedule your engagement shoot yet, don’t hesitate to reach out, we are always happy to help!
